Actor John Partridge won Celebrity MasterChef in September. He says: “I never expected to win MasterChef - it really was one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of and I was sad it had to end. But my food journey is far from over - and now I’m thrilled to have been invited to Christmas Foodies Festival in beautiful Edinburgh!”
For the first time, the Foodies Festival will be presenting a vegan strand, headlined by Paul Kayne, Vegan Head Chef at Henderson’s. Sue Hitchen, director of Foodies Festival says “veganism is the fastest growing food trend in the UK and there will be many hosts preparing a Christmas meal which will have to take this option into account. We’ll have experts to show how to produce delicious plant based dishes to keep everybody happy”.
In the Drinks Theatre Charles Metcalfe will be tasting Spanish Wines and Port, Diana Thompson adding some fizz with Prosecco and other wines and there will also be a Champagne tasting.
The ever popular Foodies Workshop will be rocking a yuletide vibe with classes on Christmas Canapés, Champagne Tasting, Christmas Cocktail Making, Create The Perfect Cheeseboard, Chocolate Tasting, Dried Orange Garlands with Fragrant Botanical, Edible Christmas Gifts and Festive Decorations.
Of course all ages enjoy getting involved in preparing a Christmas feast and at the Elf Cookery School children can learn how to make Gingerbread Men, Christmas Cookie Decorating and Snowman Peppermint Creams.
The Cake & Bake Theatre will be welcoming Tom Hetherington (GBBO Contestant 2017), Marie-Claire Semeraro (Casa Angelina – a Cordon Bleu trained pastry chef, combining classic French techniques in American bakes with surprising Italian seasonings), Amy Lorimer (Bakingwithgranny.com - Edinburgh based blogger specialising in preserving traditional Scottish baking), Larah Bross (Bross Bagels;

There will be stalls selling food and drink from some of the best producers in Scotland from cheese, ham, smoked salmon and oil to beer, whisky and a ‘gin alley’ giving visitors a chance to meet the makers and learn more about the provenance of their offerings. No need to go hungry as there will be lots of delicious food including street food such as Greek deli, pulled pork, sausages, vegan snack, Punjabicuisine and mac & cheese as well as treats from Spain and Italy.
Getting visitors in a real Christmas spirit will be a line up of local choirs organised by Bloodwise, a blood cancer research charity.
